Your chance to capture Sholver life on film
4 June 2008

Residents in Sholver are invited to join in a project that will record what local people think about their neighbourhood.
Working with a professional artist, the project will enable residents to develop skills in filming and interviewing. It will also involve many residents on the other side of the camera, sharing their thoughts and describing local life. The aim is to strengthen networks
Two workshops have already taken place with residents getting a chance to learn interviewing and filming skills. A further two workshops have now been confirmed and will be held at St. Thomas' School, Coleridge Road, Sholver on Friday 6 June and Saturday 7 June.
The Friday workshop will take place between 11am and 3pm, and the Saturday workshop between 11am and 3.30pm. Anyone interested in taking part should contact Consultation Officer, Zerg Raja on 0161 770 3590.
Together with one of the HMR neighbourhoods in Rochdale, the artist will work with residents to explore the relationships people have with issues such as culture, arts, regeneration, and the local environment.
Heather Woodall from the Sholver Children’s Centre said, “This is an exciting opportunity for local people to be involved in a project that shows what makes Sholver tick. Cultural and arts activities can play an important role in rejuvenating communities, and this project will have residents taking the lead both behind and in front of the camera.”
The workshops are the first activities taking place as part of developing a creative arts strategy across the Oldham Rochdale HMR Pathfinder.
