Heritage Roadshows in Derker, Werneth/Freehold and East Central Rochdale

Residents from Werneth/Freehold, Derker and East Central Rochdale will have the opportunity to see the detailed studies of a recent historical heritage assessment.

Latham Architects carried out the assessment of the Oldham Rochdale Housing Market Renewal (HMR) Pathfinder area which was commissioned by Oldham and Rochdale Councils and the Pathfinder. Detailed studies of the Werneth/Freehold, Derker and East Central Rochdale areas will be on display in the local neighbourhood offices during the week commencing 14th August. East Central Rochdale covers Bellshill, Cloverhall, Mayfield, Hamer, Town Head and Wardleworth. The displays will show where there are areas of heritage, what significance these areas have and recommendations about how these areas could be treated in future plans for the area.

Local public events are planned to present the information and answer any queries from residents.

  • For Werneth/Freehold residents, the event is on Thursday 17th August in Christ Church, Block Lane from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
  • For Derker residents, the event is on Friday 18th August as part of  the ‘Party in the Park’ at Stoneleigh Park from 1pm to 6pm.
  • For East Central Rochdale residents, the event is on Thursday 17th August at Kashmir Youth Project, Belfield Road, from 7.30 to 8.30 pm

Residents are invited to bring any photographs or other memorabilia relating to the Werneth/Freehold, Derker and East Central Rochdale areas to be recorded for posterity. Anyone who has something of interest should bring it to their local office during the week commencing 14th August where it will be photographed or photocopied and returned immediately.

The Werneth/Freehold office is at 80 Tamworth St and is open daily from 9.30am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 4.30pm (telephone: 911 4246).  The Derker office is on Flint St and is open from 9.30am to 12 noon and 2 – 4pm on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and 2 – 7pm on Tuesday (telephone: 652 8873).  The East Central Rochdale office is at 2 West Street, Wardleworth and is open from 9.30am to 4.00pm.
