A move to new premises at the Magnum Trade Park for Rochdale’s Dulux Decorator Centre has given the business a boost and opened the way for redevelopment at their former Wardleworth premises.
The company’s former premises were old and increasingly run down, unsuitable for the modern needs of the business. Housing Market Renewal plans for East Central Rochdale presented an opportunity to move to a purpose built centre in Rochdale.
The Oldham Rochdale HMR Pathfinder, working with Rochdale Development Agency, Rochdale Council and private housebuilders is planning to develop hundreds of high quality new homes to the east of Rochdale town centre, including the company’s former Entwistle Road site.
Dulux completed its move in July, and despite the recession, is thriving at its new location. The move has protected eight jobs that have been retained in Rochdale.
Manager Tony Woodiwiss said, “We are extremely grateful to the Rochdale Development Agency who found us our new premises. The new location has proven extremely popular with our customers and because of the RDA’s involvement it was a smooth transition for everyone involved.”
“As a company that’s expanding all the time, we had outgrown the old building and needed a new premises to ensure that we could continue to develop and cater for local painters and decorators.”
Rochdale Development Agency provided all the support that Dulux needed to make their move. David Turner from RDA said, “We’ve been very pleased to help with Dulux's relocation in Rochdale. The move made a lot of sense for the company, and helps to provide another site for new high quality homes in East Central Rochdale.”
